Missing those summer days

Hey everyone! Now that most people have already started school, I think its safe to say that once in a while you just get into these stressful days where you feel that your not going to be able to make it this year! For me being in highschool, the stress of getting good grades and getting into a good college is overwhelming. There's so much homework and test to study it seems that I never have time to do any of activities that I love, such as hanging out with friends and family, blogging, and even just relaxing and doing some yoga. When I feel this way I just take a minute and reminisce on the memories and pictures of summer. So this is a pretty pointless blog but I thought I would just share with you how I was feeling and show you some pictures from my summer. If your not into this whole non-makeup/fashion/beauty post its all good, a fashion post will be up next so come back soon(:
So this summer I went to Washington D.C with my family and my best friend so it was an amazing experience! If you haven't gone and you were considering it I definetley reccomend it! Being honest at first when my mom told me that we were going I was all that thrilled because I thought it would be historial and boring but boy was I way off!

Brown Fall Face

Ay! W@Z up mY p33pz? .... I am so sorry you had to read that. I apologize for my weirdness. But any way's the reason I wrote that is because I hate when people talk like that! I understand when your in middle school and your trying to be ghetto and cool but after middle school, I'm talking high school and college, there is just no need for that. I mean c'mon people, do you actually think you sound cool? Sorry about that whole little complaining intro, if it even counts as one.
For today's tutorial I wanted to do a look I have been seeing a lot in the fall fashion issues, a brown face. Now when I say brown I literally mean a brown face but I promise it comes out totally awesome and pretty. I love just having that brown pretty face and just wearing it with a high bun. Totally fashionable and effortless which are my two favorite adjectives.

Products used:
Face-
*Almay pureblends liquid base
*N.Y.C Powdercompact in Warm Beige
*Benefit erase paste in No. 2
*E.l.f matte bronzer in cheeks
Eyes-
*L.A Colors Traditional Palette
*Ulta eyeshadow base
*Covergirl LashBlast Mascara in waterproof
*Lips-
*Ulta Iced Cappuccino
*dupe^WetnWild 547B
or if you don't want have a lipstick in the nude range
*E.l.f concealer in apricot beige
*Gilly Hicks in Bisque

Steps:
1)Do your normal face routine to cover any blemishes or discoloration. I used foundation, put concealer on my blemishes, and then set it all with a powder.
2)On your cheeks, use a matte bronzer as a blush. If you don't have a bronzer available with you just use a powder that is one to two skin tones darker then your current skin color.
3)Prime eyes with an eyeshadow primer or base.
4)Use a skin tone matte to satin finish eyeshadow on your eyes. The reason you don't want it to be to gliterry is because this look is very neutral and soft so you don't want to have harsh features which will throw off this look. A little shimmer is all good you just don't want to have to sparkly of an eye.
5)Bring that same color down under your lash line.
6)Use a mascara on your upper and lower eyelashes. Make sure your not using a clumpy mascara because it will take away from the look.
7)Use a nude or brown toned lipstick on your lips. If you don't have a color in that range and you don't want to buy one I have a little tip for you. Put chap stick all over your lips, this will help with the creasing and the chapness of your lips. Put a little bit of concealer on your lips( I know your thinking concealer's for your face not your lips) but trust me it will be fine! Next, take either a clear beige color lipgloss and put a tiny bit on just so your lips don't look like your a corpse.
8)Wear this makeup with your favourite fall outfit and go out for a fun night in the town!

How to get the perfect red pout!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great week and are having an amazing three day weekend! I know I'm excited about it. But I have so many idea's coming up for the blog so make sure you're following! Enough rambling today's post is all about how to get the perfect red pout. I love wearing red lips for fall because I feel like it makes you look glamorous and beatiful. So many celeberties and fashion icons rock the red lip like

To get red lips all you have to do is follow this simple three steps, that's right only three steps to totally changing up your makeup look.

Products I used:

Steps:
1) Line your lips. Im lining my lips with Ulta lipliner in Fleash. The color I am using is very similar to my lip's color so I just use it to make my lips more defined.

2)Next, use a red lipstick. Im using N.Y.C in 309B in Sheer Red. Im not a fan of the N.Y.C's lipstick's becasue the lipstick is in a rounded shape so it make's it extremley easy to go out of your lipline. The formula, color, and price though I love.

3)Now this step is optional but I like to always have glossy lips so I put a gloss over the redlipstick just to complete the look. Im using a gilly hicks lipgloss in ColdWatermelon and I love the color and smell but the only negative I have is it's just a little sticky.

Wa-La! Beautiful Red lips!

Question of the Week: Healthy Hair

Hey everyone! So I know I have been slacking in the blogging world but I have an excuse I promise! Last week was the first week of school & it was so stressful! I mean between having to find all of your classes, new teachers, exc. it can be really overwhelming. I will do better from now on though I promise!
Anyways, I got a question from one of you readers and it asked me if I have any tips to have healthy hair.

If you want to have healthy hair read these tips:
~ Don't wash your hair everyday. Now when you read that you probably thought gross but I promise its fine! My hairstylist told me and a lot of magazines have posted about it too. Washing your hair everyday can damage the ends and dry out your hair. Now when I say don't wash your hair everyday doesn't mean don't take a shower for a week because that is just Nast to the ay (Nasty). I wash my hair every other day so on the days that I have oily hair from not washing it I use dry shampoo. Basically its kind of like a hairspray but it takes out the oil of your hair. The only thing that I am not a fan of is that if you put it a little to close it can either make your hair look gray or look like it has dandruff. Yucky! I use the tresemme dry shampoo and it works really well to take to oil out. Here's a picture of what the bottle looks like
~ Another tip is if your trying to grow your hair out long then make sure to get a trim regularly to cut off the dead and split ends. The dead and split ends provent it from growing longer and make it look frizzy and out of control and no one wants that type of hair.
~ Always apply a heat protectant to your hair whenever you use a hot tool, including a blow dryer. For somereason so many people don't apply a heat protectant when they use a blowdryer but you need to becasue your still applying heat to your hair!
~ Lastly, take vitamins! There are specific vitamins that are made to make your hair grow longer and be healthier so look out for those!

Thanks for reading and I have another post coming up soon!
P.S: Do you guys want to see some of the outfits Im wearing to school next week?

Haul: e.l.f cosmetics

Hey everyone(: So as many of you know it's almost time to go back to school! Where did summer go! I feel like I just started summer but in reality its over since I start next week. Bummer.... don't get me wrong I love high school but between the homework and drama it can be a bit stressful. But back to the blog I ordered a few things from E.l.f and honestly I am so surprised by the quality of the products. Most of the items I got were a dollar. You read that right - one dollar, crazy hugh? Anyways, they sell e.l.f in select Target's but the selection online is so much better. I got brushes, pressed powder in tone 2, face primer, brush shampoo, one liquid lipstick in baby lips, one hypershine gloss in fairy, one lip conditioner in vanilla crem'e, one blush in Flushed, one facial whip in lilac petal, one all over cover stick in lilac petal, two bronzers-sun kissed and matte brown, liquid eye shadow in sexy silver, eye widener in pearl white, eyeliner pen in black, one tinted moisturizer in apricot beige, and a concealer in apricot beige. Now I got a lot of stuff and this is the amazing part, it was under $30.00. Here are a few pictures of what I got:

So I definetley reccomend this product to all you ladies! Also, when you buy online there always giving you so many free stuff when you purchase a certain amount. Like right now you get 40 eyesahdows free when you spend $20.00! That amazing considering how pigmented these eyeshadows really are. Just use the code: EGEYEFREE. Or if you want to get free shipping all you have to do is spend $30.00 and then bam free shipping! Use the code: Thirty. The only thing that I find is a bit annoying is you can't combine coupons so you have to decide which one you want more.

To order go to http://www.eyeslipsface.com/ & hope if any of you reading this go to school have an amazing school year!

P.S: Im going to be starting a question/tip of the week so if you have any questions you can either write them as a comment or e-mail them to me at vivalaglammakeup@yahoo.com (:

Books! Books! Books! Classy & Sephora- The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair From the Beauty Authority

Now if your like me for summer you like to take a book to the pool or to lay out then you have to check out these two books! I guess you could say I'm not a "big reader" but when I find a book I like I fall in love and won't stop reading it until I finish it. Let me tell you, I have never loved two books as much as I loved Classy and Sephora- The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority.

"Classy" by Derek Blasberg is a hilarious book about how to be the best woman in today's society. The way Derek write really captivates you as well as making you laugh the entire way. This is my favorite book to date and I doubt anything will be able to top it. I recommended it to a bunch of my friends and they all loved it! So ladies go pick up a copy of this book because it is the bible of being classy.

Product Review: The eos lipbalm

The newest craze in the world I call beauty is the eos ( evolution of smooth) lip balm. For some of you, you know exactly what I'm talking about while others are thinking to them self what the heck is she talking about. Now if you have heard about these lip balms then you know that everyone is obsessed with them and they swear that there the best lip balms out there. I personally love these lip balms for some various reasons such as there 95% organic, 100% natural, make your lip's super smooth, and cost only $3.50! Now, there not the softest lip balm out there like soft lips is, I mean if you tried those you know it feels like butter on your lips, but they do work good and really moisturize your lips. I absolutely love how unique the outside looks because its sure a conversation starter! I got the summer fruit and honeysuckle honeydew scents and they smell amazing! The summer fruit one comes in a pink container and smells like peaches while the honeysuckle honeydew one smells like sweet honeysuckle, well the name pretty much describes it.

Gorgeous Golden Skin

Jersey Shore influenced our culture in so many ways; high teased hair, fist pumping, abs, situations, a love for being Italian, parting, but most of all being tan! Between the weekly tanning salon visits to the excessive amounts of bronzer they put on there face it's pretty astonishing to see how tan someone really can look. But although that show makes us laugh, almost peeing in our pants from laughing so hard, most of us aren't Snooki and can't pull off that look.

When done tastefully bronzer can really transform you into a glowing goddess, and I mean that literally. It's the new craze for summer and like Rachel Zoe would say "It's Bananas," meaning its to die for. Now sadly we have to have the "talk." Don't worry this blog is PG-13 so not the talk your thinking of, the bronzer talk that is. When you see a girl and words like fake and bake and oompa loompa go threw your head its usually because a girls tan looks so fake and overdone. Never ever put that much bronzer on your face where you could even resemble a oompa loompa because some people say there's a positive to everything but honey, there is not one positive thing about that. Finding the right type of bronzer:
Light Skin Tones- Stick to light brown bronzers with beige undertone so it doesn't make you look muddy or orange.
Medium Skin Tones- Go with a gold or brown bronzer to make your skin look glowy and fresh.
Darker Skin Tones- Brown bronzers with darker undertones really make your face look sunny and dewy.
Now for the golden question, How to apply bronzer tastefully?
I apply bronzer using this method:
1)Pick up the bronzer with a slanted blush/bronzing brush. Shake excess off. Then apply the bronzer from your upper cheekbone all the way down to your chin then back up the other cheek. This way creates a V.
2)Without getting any more bronzer sweep your nose and your forehead.
3)Don't forget to get your neck! That's one of my biggest pet peeves when people don't have their neck color matching their face color! So trashy, not at all classy.

Bronzer done nice & tasetfully

My favorite bronzer: Benefit Cosmetic Boxed Powder Collection in Hoola

Makeup for Teens

Hey girls(: This post is going to help all of those teens and even just people starting out with makeup decide what they should buy first. Since school is coming up soon, I am going to be giving you items that are natural and neutral so they are more wearable. When you first are starting out with makeup, no matter if you're a teen or older, I suggest that you buy things that you are able to wear everyday. Since your just starting out you don't want to buy three blue eye shadows and two hot pinks because then if you decide makeup isn't your cup of tea you just wasted your money and let's face it, in today's economy nobody wants to be wasting money.
Also, all of these items are available at drugstores so they won't break your bank.

Covergirl Lashblast Mascara in Waterproof I suggest getting waterproof because you can where this in the summer when you go in the pool or beach with your friends. I really love this specific mascara because the brush is HUGE so it really makes your eyes look long and bold which I absolutely love.

Milani Eyeliner

I really like this eyeliner because it goes on supper smooth and stays on for a long time. If you don't feel comfortable wearing black eyeliner you can always start out with a brown and then work your way towards black although brown also looks really pretty on a lot of people, so its really up to you. If you like looking more natural then wear brown but if you don't mind looking like you wear makeup then go with the black.

Covergirl Eye Enhancers Quad: Country WoodThis pallet is really pigmented and is super pretty. I love how there neutral colors so they are really wearable so you can wear them to school, on a date, or even out to parties. I like using the third color for the inner lid, the second color for the outer lid, and the fourth color for the crease. If you want a highlight color you can use the third color again but I don't like wearing highlight colors unless I'm going out, but its totally up to you.

Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder

Now for pressed powders I really liked this one because it helped with my oily skin and covered up my acne really well. I don't like to wear foundation to school so it is really important to have a powder that covers up my blemishes. Also, this one really stays on for a while so I never really have to reapply at school which is really good.

If you want to put something on your lips, I recommend just a light pink or clear lip gloss with a chapstick underneath so your lips are moisturized and smooth.

Thanks for reading and have a great day! (:

Makeup Brush holders

So since my last post was about getting makeup brushes now you need somewhere to put them. The brush holder I'm using now was from Ikea originally designed for dish brushes but I thought it would be really practical to keep my brushes in. This is what it looks like:

It has two sections so in one i keep my face brushes like foundation, powder, and blush brushes. The second one i keep my eye and lip brushes.

Now many of the YouTube beauty guru's use the vase type of brush holders that you can make yourself and are really cute so heres a glammy do-it yourself on how to make your own brush holder. This is what it looks like:

So the materials you will need are a vase, ribbon of of whatever color you want, beads, hot glue gun, and a paint pen.

Directions

  1. Take your vase and draw polka dots or whatever design you want on your vase. Then let dry.
  2. Take ribbon and cut it so it wraps around the vase, then hot glue it down. If you want a bow then take a little more ribbon create the bow and then hot glue it to the middle. Be careful with the hot glue.
  3. Then take your beads and put it into the vase.
  4. Now put in your brushes and enjoy!

Makeup Brushes

This post is going to help all of you out when it comes to those two words: Makeup Brushes. I think when your starting off in the whole makeup faze you really only need six brushes to complete most looks. Those brushes are total face, eyeshadow/flatshader, crease, highlight, blush, and foundation brush. Also, when your first starting off you don't need to go a buy all Mac brushes instead, you can buy good cheap brushes such as e.l.f brushes and then as you get better and build your collection and whenyou know you truly want to invest in makeup you can go buy those glamorous mac brushes.

from left to right: E.l.f brushes- total face brush, blush brush, foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, crease brush, and highlight brush.

The three face brushes:

1. Foundation brush- This brush is pretty self explanatory, a brush to put on foundation. The Mac 190 foundation brush works really good doesn't make your foundation look cakey or streaking while the e.l.f brush literally sucks. It's really thin so it hardly moves your foundations and it just makes it look all streaky and cakey. Streaky and cakey makeup is trashy not classy, and vivalaglam girls are classy. Oh that reminds me of a book im reading called Classy by Derek Blasberg girls I recommend all of you get this book because not only is it hilarious its actually really help full. Sorry ADD moment but now back on track....basically the e.l.f foundation brush sucks so invest in a better brush.

2. Total face brush- This brush is used to put on a powdered foundation and cover up. The elf one works really good almost as good as the mac in my opinion. The comparable mac one is the 134 powder brush. Both work really good to put powdered makeup on.

3. Blush brush- I really really recommend getting the elf bronzing brush, which i use as a bronzer and blush brush. You can use the same brush as long as after each time you use it you just wipe it off after. The elf brush puts blush on so well because its slanted and really gets a good glowy mist looks when you use bronzer. Although I havent tried the comparable mac 168 brush I strongly urge you to go with the elf brush. Well, I'm not pushing the elf brush on you!

Now the three eye brushes:

1. Eyeshadow brush/flatshadder- This is the brush that's used to put eyeshadow onto the lids of your eyes. The elf one works really good but the Mac 239 really picks up the eyeshadow a little better. But for a a dollar I still would recommend the elf one.

2. Crease brush- Now this brush is used to put in eyeshadow in the little groove of your eye after you lid but before you face bone. This Elf blending brush works really well as well as the mac 217.

3. Highlight brush- Now this isn't the name of the brush you use to highlight but for reasons that's what I'm referring it to. Now a highlight brush is used to put eyeshadow right below your eyebrow and highlight your brow. I use the elf defining eye brush because its angled so it really works with my eyebrow shape so I really like that. The equivalent is the mac 228 mini brush. Both brushes work really well.

So here the link for elf: http://www.eyeslipsface.com/ and they also sell the products at target in case your like me and don't like online ordering.

MAC's website: http://www.maccosmetics.com/ and there products can be found at retail counters or mac stores.

Summer Lovin'

Even though were half through summer I thought I would share my favorite summer beauty items.
1. Chapstick! Chapstick! Chapstick! I absolutely can not stress how important it is to wear chapstick during the summer. They prevent your lips from getting burned and keep them nice and moisturized for those summer nights(; I love the brand soft lips in vanilla because its so soft and goes on so smoothly. It's like a baby bottoms although I'm not really sure what a baby's bottom feels like since I've never touched one. But needless to say chapstick = A must
2. Moisturizer. You know whats really weird I've always had really oily skin but recently I have been getting the driest skin so I have fell in love with moisturizer. I've been using the Olay skin Regenrist even though i dont have wrinkly skin or anything it works good for me.
Also, I really recommend getting a tinted moisturizer so you can use it as a foundation when your going outside.
3. Bronzer. Bronzer is relatively new to me so when I was introduced to it I found out for myself the side affects of this product. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about is beware not to put to much on because if you do you will look orange, and sorry but orange is not a good skin tone color. Bronzer really just gives you that great dewy complexion that brings out your tan. I'm using the E.L.F shimmer bronzer and i really like it the only downfall is its extremely shimmery so i cant use it all the time.
4. Waterproof Mascara. Although I know a lot of people absolutely hate waterproof mascara because it can be hard to take off I really recommend it for the summer. Do you know how annoying it is to be at the pool or beach and know you look like a raccoon because your mascara is running down your face? let me tell you quite annoying. I really love the covergirl lashblast mascara in waterproof. The big brush really defines my eyelashes and makes them big, bold, and beautiful.

Hope everyone is having a safe and amazing summer!
